Public Firing Range Safety Course

The Hampton Police Department is conducting a 6-hour firearms safety course taught by certified law enforcement instructors from the Hampton Police Department. Completion of class is required for citizens to utilize the departments firing range.

To participate, participants must be at least 21 years of age, have no felony convictions, must pass a criminal background check and successfully complete the mandatory 6-hour safety course. The course will be held at the firing range located at 233 Richard Petty Boulevard, Hampton, GA 30228.

On the day of class, participants are to report to the range at 8:00 AM for classroom instruction. Following a lunch break, participants will receive hands on training at the range.
Participants must bring their unloaded handgun, 50 rounds of ammunition and eye and ear protection.

Upon completion of the class, a range access photo ID will be issued. The ID will allow access to the range on future pre-set dates and times.

To enroll in this class a GCIC Consent Form and a Range Wavier must be completed and personally brought to the Hampton Police Department Monday – Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM along with a photo ID. The forms can be picked up at the Hampton Police Department or printed from the City of Hampton Website. 

Due to the overwhelming response and in an effort to maintain the highest level of safety the course will be limited to those that reside in the City Limits of Hampton.
