The City of Hampton contracts their garbage services through Waste Industries. All garbage pickup, regular household garbage and bulk items, will be done on Friday. Only items that are INSIDE the trash receptacle will be picked up. No items placed outside of the trash receptacle will be picked up unless you have scheduled a bulk pick up. Trash pickup will start as early as 5 a.m., it is suggested that you have your trash placed by the curb on Thursday evening. You will see a charge of $11.60 on your Utility Bill for Garbage Services.
Citizens are asked to call Customer Service, if they have bulk items to be picked up. Effective January 1, 2007, the City started charging a fee of $15 per pickup on each garbage customer who places bulk waste at their curbside for collection. The fee will be added to your utility bill the following month. Bulk waste is defined as all large wooden, plastic or composite household items that are not capable of being placed inside a 95 gallon container. Examples of bulk waste items include, but are not limited to, furniture, mattresses and light construction waste. The maximum amount of bulk waste to be collected weekly shall be 4 cubic yards or the equivalent of a regular size truck bed. The call for bulk pick up must be made to Customer Service at 770-946-4306, no later than Thursday at 1:00 p.m. the week it needs to be picked up.
Commercial locations will receive an automatic charge for $11.60 for garbage pickup. If an additional can is needed there will be a $5 charge. Pickup for commercial locations will be on Friday, unless an additional pick up on Tuesday is required. There will be a $5 charge for the additional pick up on Tuesday.
Note: No call is needed for regular household garbage.
The City of Hampton is responsible for the pickup of yard debris. Yard debris will be picked up on the East side of the City on Monday and the West side on Tuesday.
Limbs are to be no longer than 4 feet in length, no wider than 2 inches. Any loose debris (grass, leaves etc.) are to be put in Bio-degradable bags, if not it will not be picked up. Yard Debris Schedule
Recycling Center has closed
During the past 2 years, the prices paid for sorted recycled materials have dropped precipitously. Today, unsorted recyclables have little market value. Centers are charging a fee to take our unsorted recyclables. Henry County has declined to open a sorted recycling facility in or near Hampton.
Due to the rising expense, the recycling center at the old city shop will be closed on August 1, 2015. For those who would like to continue recycling, sorted materials may be taken to the Henry County Recycling Center, 25 Ashbury Road, McDonough. Also, several independent vendors are available for curbside pick up. A list is available at the Henry County Georgia Curbside Recycling page. Fees vary.
