Sherry T. Chaney is an educator, community leader, and public servant dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods and restoring trust in local government. Raised in Georgia, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Special Education and Human Services from Mercer University.
Sherry’s commitment to service began early through work with youth and families, including roles as an intern at a youth detention center and as a hospital social worker. Over the years, she has continued to work hard as a mentor teacher, professional development trainer, and board member for organizations focused on children and family well-being.
A resident of Hampton for more than fifteen years, Sherry serves on her local HOA board and remains deeply engaged in community life. She brings a practical, people-centered approach to leadership, with a focus on public safety, fiscal responsibility, and building stronger connections between City Hall and residents.
Sherry and her husband, Dwayne, are parents of four and grandparents of seven. Guided by faith and a lifelong belief in service to God, country, and community, she is committed to delivering thoughtful, common-sense solutions for Hampton’s future.
